Catalog description
Throughout history, pattern has adorned, draped and carried significant cultural meaning and symbolism for individuals and communities around the world. In this course, students conduct research, produce art work, attend lectures and survey the vast history of the production, trade and consumption of visual pattern within a global context.Students draw from memory, personal history and direct observation of artificial and natural landscapes in order to identify and produce patterns. Using adobe software students gain technical skills in designing, repeating and scaling output of regular and irregular repeat pattern. Each student will work to complete assignments and direct their own independent projects.
