Catalog description

This course recognizes the emotional effects of oppression. Recently, more attention shows how systemic mistreatment of people affects the social and economic wellbeing of communities (both systematically targeted by racism and colonization and those enforcing these systems). We will practice, reflect, discuss, and explore what healing from oppression looks like. We explore the emotional dimensions of oppression and justice while being aware that the history of injustice is full of intense emotions. How do we connect the personal, academic, and political experience of living and researching through these experiences? How do we analyze and heal the effects of injustice and mistreatment and support our academic practice and activist work?
