Catalog description

This sociocultural anthropology course is focused on the social construction of health, risk, illness, and disease in the US and around the globe and research methods used to study them. Topics include health inequality and its social production, critical analysis of biomedicine and power, technologies of diagnosis and treatment, stigma and disability, gender, bodies and health, mental health and illness, medicalization and pharmaceuticalization, and global health and humanitarian care.
