Examines the infrastructures, practices, and concepts that emerge from securitization. Critically analyzes how security becomes entangled with the state as a legal, political, and social form and how securitization marks a new mode of power and governance irreducible to the demands of sovereignty. Topics include the relationship between freedom, rights, and protection; surveillance and its technologies; material and immaterial violence; global networks and the international; force and coercion; policing and law enforcement; and the politics of borderlands and migration.
