Explores the dynamics of violence against women and the impact this social phenomenon has upon victims and the broader community. Examines the impacts of race, class, gender, and sexuality on victims of violence and societal response to this social problem. Focuses on issues including institutional and structural factors, such as the carceral state, intersecting oppressions and systems of inequality. Examines issues of patriarchy, misogyny and stereotypes as they relate to gender-based violence.
