Uses the development of critical thinking to explore the study of social problems. Draws upon critical thinking and sociological scholarship to develop skills in writing, argumentation, and the assessment of claims about social issues. Centers the role of race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexuality, ability, age, and legal status in the analysis of social problems and social change efforts in the United States and around the world.
