Catalog description
Introduces students to the anatomy and physiology components of normal voice and swallow across the lifespan. Covers the subsystems for voice production and stages of swallowing as well as changes leading to impairments in voice and swallowing. Covers the organic and functional factors that impact voice and swallowing. Highlights the interrelatedness between the voice and swallowing mechanisms. Introduces current evidence-based practices in assessment and intervention. Prerequisite(s): SLP 320 and SLP 491 with a minimum grade of C (2.0).
