Catalog description

Surveys the theories, causes, and conclusion of civil wars. Also explores ingredients for a durable peace after civil wars. Seeks to understand why some rebellions are usually contained while other rebellions degenerate into a full-blown civil war between state and non-state actors. (INP) Recommended Preparation: GBST 300 or PSCI 331 or PSCI 337 . May not be taken for credit by students who received credit for: GBST 390-9. Cross-listed: PSCI 435 and GBST 435 are cross-listed. Students may not receive credit for both.
