Catalog description

Examines democratization and causes of electoral violence in sub-Saharan Africa. Discusses authoritarian, hybrid, and democratic political systems as well as forms of political change through revolutions, coups, and democratization with the application of democratization theories. Analyzes causes of electoral violence in competitive elections and possible solutions to election violence. (INP) Recommended Preparation: GBST 300 or PSCI 331 or PSCI 337 . May not be taken for credit by students who received credit for: PSCI 390-27 or GBST 390-11. Cross-listed: PSCI 433 and GBST 433 are cross-listed. Students may not receive credit for both.
