Catalog description

During 180 clinical hours of field study the Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive care to patients with a chronic illness and their families. Engages in advanced holistic physical assessment of pain, symptoms, and quality of life for patients with serious or chronic illnesses in a variety of settings in the community under the direction of a skilled clinician in palliative care. Learning experiences will focus on conducting patient/family conferences; exploring current and emerging models of palliative care delivery; and creating approaches to enhancing continuity of palliative care across settings. Enrollment Restrictions: Enrollment is restricted to students who have obtained consent from the department. Enrollment restricted to students enrolled in the Master of Science in Nursing Program. Corequisite(s): NURS 534C .
