Catalog description

Introduces incoming nursing students to the Nursing profession. Prepares students to function within the profession by covering introductions to the topics of professional behavior, the evolution of nursing practice, RN role and scope of practice, collaboration with the health care team, quality and safety, caring for diverse patient populations, therapeutic communication, ethics, conflict management and mindfulness. Examines the importance of providing quality patient care while focusing on the values of respect, advocacy, and responsibility. Dual-listed: NURS 204 and NURS 304 are dual-listed. The courses may be taught together by the same instructor. Students may not receive credit for both. Enrollment Restrictions: Enrollment restricted to Nursing majors.
