Examines various forms of African Diaspora music and how these music cultures have influenced, and in turn, been affected by, the complex nexus of race, gender, colonialism, socioeconomic class, and religious beliefs. Discusses how African Diaspora musical artists/communities have historically used music as a form of resistance, as a means of cultivating spiritual endurance, and as a creative tool to expand the capacity to both liberate and heal from intersecting forms of oppression.
