Advanced Vocal and Instrumental Instruction

Catalog description

Prepares advanced music majors for individual performance on a solo instrument or voice. Explores a variety of pedagogical approaches through individualized repertoire selection, etudes, exercise, and technique. Examines progress from individual practice. Integrates preparation for senior capstone for performance-based projects. Course expectations include performance in monthly performance forums and an end-of-semester performance jury for the full faculty. May be repeated; a total of sixteen (16) units may be counted toward graduation requirements. Enrollment Restrictions: Enrollment restricted to students who have obtained consent of instructor. Enrollment Requirement(s): At least one year of lower-division vocal and instrumental instruction ( MUSC 240 ). By audition only. Corequisite(s): Choose one of the following: MUSC 194 , MUSC 196 , MUSC 197 , MUSC 389 , MUSC 392 , MUSC 394 , MUSC 395 , MUSC 396 , MUSC 397 .
