Catalog description

Surveys music in United States history that reflect themes of social justice. Examines lyrics, performance practices, social identities, and contexts in which the songs were written within various American musical genres ranging from Tin Pan Alley, labor movement, the blues, rock, country, musical theatre, R & B, and hip hop. Recommended Preparation: Junior or Senior standing. May not be taken for credit by students who received credit for: MUSC 380-4.
