Catalog description

An exploration of the language phenomena that occur in regions where two or more language communities live and work together. Introduces bilingualism, dialects, codeswitching, and mixed languages. Language data representing examples of these contact phenomena are used to study the linguistic subsystems of phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics. Enrollment Restrictions: Enrollment restricted to students with Junior or Senior standing. Satisfies GE area: UD4
