Catalog description

Provides a foundation in the theory of counseling and effective components of evidence-based interventions. Students will become familiar with empirically supported relationship variables that are critical to counseling interactions, evidence-based approaches to counseling across the lifespan, and specific strategies integral to these interventions. The impact of development and socio-cultural forces will be discussed. A scientific, theory-based approach to counseling, emphasizing the integration of research and clinical work, using a developmental framework, will be used. May not be taken for credit by students who received credit for: HD 370 -2. Prerequisite(s): HD 101 , and PSYC 100 or HD 102 .
