Catalog description

Examines notions of identity in public discourse. Introduction to theories of discourse, identity, and power in public discourse (i.e., legal, mediated, policy, etc.) on current social issues. Focuses on the politics of identity, the ways in which identity politics play out in public debate, and in the formation of economic, political, and social policies and realities. Recommended Preparation: COMM 330 .
