Catalog description

Designed to introduce the student majoring in science to the basic principles of chemical thermodynamics and kinetics. Covers basic laws of thermodynamics, chemical and physical equilibria, electrochemistry, transport processes, and theories and experimental determination of chemical reaction rates. Dual-listed: CHEM 401 is dual-listed with CHEM 541. The courses will be taught together by the same instructor. Students may not receive credit for both. Prerequisite(s): ( CHEM 160 or CHEM 162 ), MATH 162 , and ( PHYS 202 or PHYS 206 ); or classified graduate standing.
