Catalog description

Explores the stressful life events experienced by children and adolescents and the ways in which they cope. Considers theoretical models of stress and coping in addressing various topics including child abuse, marital dissolution, poverty, homelessness, natural disasters, teen pregnancy, depression, war, and death. Considers positive aspects of stress. Prerequisite(s): PSYC 331 , PSYC 349 and ( PSYC 328 or CHAD 339 ), each with a grade of a C (2.0) or better.
