Catalog description

Provides an introduction to evidence-based teaching strategies, science education theory and research, and scientific teaching for biology and chemistry graduate students teaching in a variety of course contexts. Covers lesson planning, equity and inclusion, assessment, metacognition, grading, and active-learning for science classrooms. Weekly course sessions will include instructor-driven and student-driven discussions, activities, projects, and presentations. Cross-listed: BIOL 685 and CHEM 685 are cross-listed. Students may not receive credit for both. Enrollment Restrictions: Enrollment of BIOL 685 is restricted to students in the Biological Sciences graduate program; enrollment of CHEM 685 is restricted to students in the Chemistry graduate program.
