Catalog description
Examines the functional responses and adaptations that accompany acute and chronic exercise, particularly involving cardiovascular, metabolic, respiratory, endocrine, and muscular systems. Subject matter will include energy for physical activity, systems for energy delivery and utilization; training and enhancement of energy capacities; skeletal muscle energy balance, and health related aspects of exercise. Discussion of the instrumentation and techniques fundamental to exercise physiology and biochemistry will also be covered. Prerequisite(s): BIOL 210 and BIOL 211 .
