Catalog description

Introductory studio course in performance art. Emphasis will be placed on the body as the primary medium of performance, improvisational structures, site-specific performances, and creating performances from a cross-disciplinary perspective. Theory and practice course consisting of intensive practical experience, critiques of student work, and lectures and class discussions on contemporary and historical practices in performance art. One public performance planned at the end of the semester. Two hours of lecture. Two hours of laboratory. May not be taken for credit by students who received credit for: VSAR 310.
