Diagnostic Oral Radiology and Pathology

Catalog description

This is a foundational course designed to equip dental students with the essential knowledge and skills to diagnose diseases of the oral and maxillofacial region. This course integrates the principles of radiographic imaging (including intraoral, extraoral, and advanced techniques) with etiology, pathogenesis, clinical features, and histopathology characteristics of oral and maxillofacial pathology. Emphasis will be placed on the interpretation of radiographic findings, correlation of these findings with pathological entities, and the development of differential diagnoses. Students will learn to critically evaluate radiographic and clinical information to arrive at accurate diagnoses and contribute to appropriate patient management. Through case- based learning and image analysis, students will gain the skills necessary to formulate differential diagnoses and contribute effectively to treatment planning in a clinical setting.
