Professional Communication Seminar

Catalog description
This course is an elective option for students who wish to improve written and oral communication skills useful for advancement in the health professions. We practice genres of professional communication, including blogs and infographics, in order to learn and apply skills and become habituated to considering purpose and audience. Additionally, we explore the important roles that collaboration, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, ethics, humility, mindfulness, and metacognition play in interactions typical within a healthcare profession. The perspectives and skills, including discussion facilitation and interviewing, can be applied immediately and also transferred to innumerable situations throughout one’s further education and professional career.
