Catalog description

Introduces students to Latin American Environmental Literature in a comparative context through poems, short stories, longer fiction, essays, and film. Investigates texts written in Spanish with a focus on ecocriticism, Traditional Ecological Knowledge, and animal studies. Encourages students to reexamine anthropocentric assumptions and to push back against narratives of human exceptionalism. Course will be taught in Spanish.
