Catalog description

Examines developments in science, medicine, and technology from a sociological perspective. Explores the social processes that shape how science is done, who gets to participate, and what consequences may arise through the collaborations and contestations of multiple social actors. Central questions include: How does your social position affect your relationship to science, medicine and technology? How do existing social inequalities shape who participates in this area? What questions get studied, what outcomes are possible, and who benefits and who bears the cost of emergent research?
