Catalog description

Exposes students to the scientific methods used to investigate learning and memory; reviews the findings of research in the field. Discusses how these research findings can inform people’s daily decisions and are applicable in various settings, from personal to policies. Covers a variety of topics including the cellular basis of learning, basic pattern detection, attention, working memory, classical and operant conditioning, executive function, episodic and semantic memory, skill memory, emotional and social learning, and explores the neural substrates of these functions.
