Explores the significance of the Scientific Revolution, and why scientists and scholars consider it such an important period in human history. Investigates people’s beliefs about the world before this period and what led to a dramatic shift in our understanding of nature. Addresses philosophical questions, such as: To what extent can our scientific theories be said to represent the world as it “really” is? What are laws of nature, and what role do they play in convincing us that we are “closer” to the truth?
