Catalog description

Introduces nanoscale phenomena while reinforcing students’ foundation in chemistry, physics and engineering for careers or advanced education in current and future technologies. Reviews unique properties of nanomaterials, nanosynthesis, and nanofabrication (top-down and bottom-up approaches). Describes broad applications in green energy, photonics, electronics, and biomedicine. Provides examples of how radical innovations often arise from research that crosses disciplinary boundaries. Exposes students to interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research, integrating knowledge from various fields to address complex real-world problems.
