Catalog description

Covers the evolution of science, law, and policy in the management of national parks and other domestic and international protected areas. Topics range from historical foundations of the park conservation model, indigenous dispossession, wilderness philosophy, visitor use management, human-wildlife conflict, climate change, and environmental hazards. Students will engage in critical inquiry through scholarly and applied readings, and through writing and discussion will learn to pose questions and defend claims related to current management challenges.
