Provides an overview of the histories of the Korean Peninsula from antiquity in the regions Three Kingdoms Period from the 1st century CE to the present situation of division between North and South Korea. Explores two millennia of history through the written record, literature, the arts, popular culture past and present including the “Korean Wave” phenomenon, and the complex ongoing debates about the region’s turbulent yet ever-present past.
