Catalog description

Systematically surveys the physical science underlying systems for energy conversion, transportation, storage, and use. Reviews energy forms: mechanical, electromagnetic, thermal, chemical, and nuclear, plus basic quantum mechanics. Covers energy supply (nuclear fission and fusion, solar photovoltaic and thermal systems, bioenergy, wind- and water-derived energy, geothermal energy, fossil fuels, efficiency, and conservation); electricity systems (variable generation, distributed generation, energy storage, transmission, and distribution); and externalities (climate system and feedbacks, ionizing radiation).
