Catalog description
Examines indigenous-authored memoirs and historical narratives of North America from the time of contact to the present day. Explores questions of how Indigenous identity and requirements for Indigenous identity have been influenced and controlled through systems of oppression and erasure, and how Indigenous groups and individuals have persevered amid these diverse and changing modes of colonization. Focuses on close readings of texts and the identification of recurring themes within Native American memoir.
