Research Practicum

Catalog description

Engages students in close collaboration with faculty advisors on ongoing faculty or joint projects, or on their own novel research ideas. Requires replication of an existing paper in consultation with the faculty advisor and critically evaluates current research on the broader topic through a comprehensive literature review. Encourages the development of research ideas or collaboration on research with a faculty member or peer. Provides guidance on data sources and handling; with devising ideas which can lead to part of a dissertation. Offers practical experience in conducting research. Supports student progress through assignments designed to foster achievement of these goals.
