Catalog description

Provides a multilinguistic approach to intermediate computing literacy and statistical programming. This course is organized into four parts: 1) intermediate programming techniques in R and Python, with comparisons to other languages; 2) Data sourcing and database management, including persistent storage, database transactions via APIs and web services, SQL queries and joins, programming RDBMS transactions, web-scraping in Python and R, and working with NoSQL database query languages, 3) intermediate techniques in high performance computing for data science, and 4) intermediate statistical programming in R and Stan, emphasizing Bayesian and nonparametric approaches.
