Applies the lens of Black feminism to explore the ways film can function as a form of artistic expression and a vehicle for social transformation, with an emphasis on thematic issues such as family, social activism, sexuality, identity, institutional racism/sexism, and interpersonal relationships. Explores the centrality of the Black feminist conception/practice of care for self and community and its relationship to social justice and social transformation through the creative and political medium of film.
