Focuses on societies, cultures, environments, economies, and polities in California during the indigenous past , the pre-colonial, colonial, Mexican, and U.S. Periods, roughly 600 years. Assesses California’s position as a microcosm, laboratory, and incubator of (progressive and regressive), social, cultural, economic, and political movements.
