Catalog description

Addresses fundamental aspects of thermodynamics and kinetics, emphasizing solid solutions and reactions in the solid state. Covers mass transport, chemical and electrochemical reactions, and phase transformations in engineering materials systems of one, two, and three components. Reviews practices used to control micro- and nano-structure. Includes case studies relevant to the processing of and property retention in metals, polymers, ceramics, semiconductors, and nanomaterials. Applies Ellingham, phase, time-temperature- transformation, and Pourbaix diagrams in materials processing contexts.
