Catalog description

Satisfies Experiential Learning requirement. UCLAP is a two-semester clinic where students represent clients in pro bono appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit or the CaliforniaFirst District Court of Appeal. Students must commit to work on the case for both semestersto avoid any disruption to the client and to avoid having to train new students on a case that is already in progress. Over the course of the year, students review the lower court record and identify issues for appeal; research and draft an opening and a reply briefs; prepare for and deliver oral argument; and assist in advising the client throughout the case's progression.
