ADR COLLOQUIUM SEMINAR

May be used to satisfy the Writing Requirement. There are no prerequisites. The semester will include a brief overview of relevant ADR principles and practices. Students broaden and deepen their knowledge of ADR theory, policy, and practice by engaging with cutting edge research. Several speakers will present recently published works or works-in-progress. Students will have the opportunity to engage with each guest speaker in an intimate seminar format. Students will also attend the speaker's public talk, which will be open to the wider UC Law community, Bay Area practitioners and scholars, and, broadly via Zoom, to participants worldwide. Speaker presentations in Fall 2026 will emphasize (1) psychology and social science of ADR, including wellness, and (2) diversity, equity, and inclusion. Because of the considerable complex background necessary to study the topic, speakers will not address arbitration, and students may not write about arbitration. Students interested in arbitration may take other courses on that topic. Note: Enrollment not permitted in this course for students who have enrolled in LAW 740 ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION SEMINAR.
