The Story of Art

Catalog description

In this course, students explore the ways artists inquire into and engage with the world, while asking what does their artwork embody? What is it made of and why? They'll experience artists' worlds through various artforms including images and sculpture, dance and movement, sound and music, words and text-and will learn about the worlds depicted and stories within/or created through the art. They'll ask: What do these artworks offer me about how I can understand and make my work? What can I take from them and use to examine, grow, or add to my capacities or the range of my work? This course is for anyone interested in creating new possibilities for their work, the world, and themselves. Restricted to MFA-EWP PhD Creative Dissertation Pathway students. Students outside of the program require permission of the MFA Program Chair.
