Catalog description

This course covers the history of research and evaluation, including interpretivist, objectivist, and mixed methods research methods, needs assessment, and program evaluation with individuals, families, couples, and communities. Topics include statistical analysis, the use of research to inform evidence-based practice, the importance of research in advancing the profession of counseling, as well as epistemological discussions on what it means to search for truth and meaning. Contemporary trends of participatory action research, culturally sustaining and liberatory approaches to ethically conducting, interpreting, and reporting results will also be addressed, culminating in the creation of an integral inquiry research project.
