Catalog description

The course covers psychometric theory, principles and methods of standardized and non-standardized testing, development and construction, and the use of psychological tests to identify and measure a wide range of human behaviors. Relevant literature, theory, and applications of a variety of psychometric concepts such as measurement, scaling, validity, true test score theory, measurement error, reliability, item analysis, generalizability theory, item response theory, measurement biases, as well as associated statistical methods are covered. The course further provides skills in understanding and critical evaluation of a variety of psychological measures including tests of personality, intelligence, and psychopathology, Major issues and controversies associated with psychological assessments and their uses are also covered in the course.
