Catalog description
This course offers an advanced study of Laozi Daodejing as a classic of spiritual philosophy and a living text of transformative psychology. Drawing on Laozi's insights into Dao, De, and desire, we will explore central themes of Self-cultivation: practicing wuwei, contemplating the cyclical movement and the unconscious dimensions of Dao, and embracing simplicity, mysterious stillness, and oneness. Primary reading is the text of Daodejing (chapter by chapter), alongside classical commentaries and contemporary cross-disciplinary scholarship. In addition, students will engage in contemplative study and experience with key concepts such as open-emptiness, centeredness, and natural constancy.
