Neurology is a multidisciplinary course that incorporates clinical aspects of major causes of neurologic disorders (etiology), mechanisms of disease development (pathophysiology and pathology), clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders of the nervous system. This course provides osteopathic medical students with a general understanding of the disorders of the human nervous system. This course focuses on an approach to patients with neurologic symptoms and the major causes of neural system disorders, such as vascular events, traumatic injury, and various pathogens, as well as the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of neurological disorders. The course will use interactive sessions to discuss the etiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, and treatment of neurologic disorders, as well as histological images, MRI, and CT-scan images. All topics are delivered via active learning sessions, including team-based learning (TBL), designated study assignments (DSA), clinically integrated sessions (CIS), imaging histopathology and clinical assessment (IHCA), and simulation-based activities.
