Course Description: Describing and identifying soil minerals commonly found in the Critical Zone; Origin, occurrence, and properties of soil minerals in relation to chemical, pedologic, and environmental conditions. Research applications of mineral identification techniques including X-ray diffraction, electron microprobe analysis, and electron microscopy.
