Course Description: Reading in English of selected Roman epic poems. Authors may include Lucretius, Vergil, Ovid, Lucan, Silius Italicus, Valerius Flaccus, and/or Statius. Relationship between the Greek and Roman epic tradition, the political and social contexts of the works under discussion, and the critical and creative reception of Roman epic.
