Sustainable Aquaculture

Catalog description

Three hours lecture and three hours laboratory per week Prerequisite(s): BIOL 200 This course explores the principles of sustainable aquaculture and contains a lab component. Students will examine ecological and environmental impacts of aquaculture, trade-offs with wild-caught fishing, as well as methodology and targets of aquaculture. An exploration on regulatory and governmental agencies will allow for a well-rounded approach. Lab and field elements will place an emphasis on local systems including kelp and shellfish farming.
