Catalog description

Three hours lecture per week This course introduces the fundamentals of plant science and technology as they apply to plants in cultivation. Topics include the historical and economic importance of plants grown for food, livestock, fiber, and landscape; crop plant origin, classification, and biogeography; plant breeding, genetics, and propagation; plant structure, physiology, growth, and development; agricultural ecosystems; crop production practices and technology (including biotechnology).
