Three hours lecture per week Prerequisite(s): SOC 100 , SOC 201 , and SOC 202 (SOC 201 and/or SOC 202 may be taken concurrently) Explores relationship between society and environment. It centers on three processes: how human activity impacts natural environment, how poor communities of color or with disabilities are disproportionately affected by environmental degredation and destruction, and how efforts to protect environment can reflect and reproduce existing power hierarchies. By end of course, students should be able to apply abstract theoretical concepts to multiple empirical contexts.
